Killer's Wish Granted

A killer who said he wanted to die for his crimes got his wish granted by a Boone County judge yesterday.

Boone County circuit judge Tony Frolich himself called this a strange case because the man accused of killing two children offered no defense. Instead, he begged the judge to put him to death. Marco Allen Chapman says it was the least he could do for taking the lives of others.

Carolyn Marksberry, who herself was raped and nearly murdered read a prepared statement in court. Her statement talked about the grief she has gone through since loosing her 6 and 7 year old children at the hands of Chapman. She also urged the judge to go along with chapman's wish and sentence him to death.

Chapman was family friend and was even helping them remodel their home. He read an apology in court in which he thanked the judge for giving him the death penalty.  He then lashed out at the media for covering this story. In all, he received the death penalty and 5-life sentences for attempted murder, burglary and rape.
