Girl, 15, struck by teen driver in Mt. Airy

MT. AIRY, OH (FOX19) - A 15-year-old girl was struck by a teen driver and seriously injured in Mt. Airy early Thursday, according to Cincinnati police.

Crews responded to West North Bend Road near Kirby Avenue just before 8 a.m.

Police say a Michael Loth, 17, was operating a 2010 Toyota Camry east on West North Bend Road when he struck Kymani Sanders who was attempting to cross West North Bend Road at Van Leunan Drive.

The Traffic Report shows that the pedestrian failed to yield to oncoming traffic and was struck by the vehicle.

Sanders was taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.  She's listed as in critical condition.

Police say male was wearing a seat belt.

Alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

West North Bend Road was shut down in the area while police investigate.

The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation and any witnesses to this crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
