Man dies after police find him with gunshot wound laying in pick-up truck

LAUREL, IN (FOX19) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is investigating after officers found a man with a gunshot wound laying in a pick-up truck early Tuesday morning.

Officers were called to the 100 block of Edgerton St. in Laurel, Ind. around 6: 20 a.m. for a report of a shooting.

When police arrived, they found Dwight Jones, 59, inside the truck suffering from a gunshot wound.

Jones was transported to Fayette Regional Hospital by EMS and then transferred to St. Vincent Hospital by medical helicopter.

According to authorities, Jones was pronounced dead as a result of the wound on Wednesday.

A 36-year-old suspect in the case is being questioned by the police. Authorities say they are investigating the shooting as a domestic violence act, not a random act of violence.
