BOONE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - A Boone County deputy will not face charges after shooting and killing a woman while on duty.
According to the attorney representing Deputy Tyler Brockman, a grand jury decided not to indict Brockman Thursday.
It was reported that Brockman was outside of his cruiser when he ordered a driver of a car who was leaving the party to stop. Ramsey refused to stop and hit Brockman, causing him to land on the hood of the car.
Police say Brockman then fired four rounds through the windshield. Ramsey stopped and backed up a short distance before coming to a rest in a ditch on the side of the road.
Ramsey was pronounced dead at Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, Ky.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department had been conducting the investigation since its inception.
A special prosecutor was brought in to handle the case.
