Bystanders hold carjacking suspect down until authorities arrive

CLERMONT COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - Bystanders restrained a carjacking suspect until authorities arrived after the man allegedly stole vehicles and crashing them in Clermont County Thursday, according to Sheriff A. J. "Tim" Rodenberg.

Zebulon Fletcher, 32, of Bethel, is held without bond at the county jail on charges of robbery and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Friday in Clermont County Municipal Court.

He was taken into custody about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when deputies responded to a 911 call about a traffic accident and fight on Ohio 756 at Fruit Ridge Road in Franklin Township, the sheriff said.

Deputies found three men holding Fletcher down.

Sheriff's officials say Fletcher is accused of stealing a car in Colerain Township and then trying to carjack others after driving into Clermont County.

He is accused of crashing a car on Ohio 756 at Fruit Ridge Road and then stealing another vehicle belonging to a 73-year-old woman who just happened to drive up on the accident scene.

The woman was not hurt.

Fletcher drove off a few hundred feet and then caused a second accident involving two vehicles that hurt two people.

He jumped out of the woman's car and then tried to steal a third vehicle - and that's when the bystanders got involved.

Three men held him down until deputies arrived.
