WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

A man is in custody following a SWAT situation Tuesday morning at a Westwood apartment complex.

Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Harrison Avenue around 2:30 a.m. for reports of an assault. Upon arrival, Derrick McGowan, 37, refused to release his girlfriend from inside the apartment, according to Cincinnati Police Captain Russ Neville. McGowan was reportedly armed with two handguns.

SWAT Personnel were called in for negotiations and McGowan surrendered around 5:30 a.m. The woman reportedly suffered minor injuries.

McGowan will be charged with unlawful restraint and could face additional charges following a full investigation, according to Captain Neville.
