National Weather Service glitch sends inaccurate, old storm alerts

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A national glitch with the National Weather Service is sending out old, inaccurate tornado and severe thunderstorm alerts nationally and locally Wednesday morning, the agency announced.

"There are NO severe weather threat in the "NWSILN area today," the agency's Wilmington office Tweeted at 6:30 a.m. "Disrgard any severe thunderstorm watch messages you may see this morning."

A few minutes later, the weather service Tweeted: "NWS is aware of old products from @NWSSPC being transmitted. No watches are in effect an no severe threat in Ohio Valley today."

The source of the old/expired watch transmissions from four years ago across is not yet known, the weather service Tweeted FOX19 NOW. "Being investigated at national level."
