FOX19 -

Rhinegeist, meaning "ghost of the Rhine," refers to the local brewery's historic place in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood.

It's a ghost many Cincinnatians are happy to have in their backyard and now the beer is getting international appreciation.

Men's Journal mentioned the brewery in its Best Beers in the World list.  The Rhinegeist Truth, an India pale ale, ranked no. 64 on the list of 100.

The magazine's description reads:

Prior to Prohibition, Cincinnati's German immigrants helped make the Ohio River a brewing powerhouse, primarily in the town's Over-the-Rhine district. Today, Rhinegeist ("ghost of the Rhine") is reviving that tradition with winning releases such as Truth, a lip-smacking IPA freighted with flavors of peach, mango, and passion fruit.

Virginia's Devils Backbone topped the list followed by COAST Brewing's Kolsch.

Check out the entire list on the Men's Journal website.
