FOX19 -

A dog owner is upset after he says an airline misplaced his four-legged friend.

According to CNN, Frank Ramano says he booked his dog, Ty, on an Oct. 31 Delta flight from Los Angeles to Tampa because he was staying in Florida for several weeks and didn't want to leave his best friend behind.

More than a week later, the dog is still missing.

"I have no clue how they could just lose a pet like that," Ramano reportedly told a CNN Tampa affiliate.

CNN reached out to Delta and a representative said they are doing everything they can to aid in the search for Ty.

But Ramano has a different impression of the situation.

"To me, it sounds like they don't care. They sound like they lost just a piece of baggage. That's it. He's family. He's like my best friend," Ramano said.

Representatives at Delta say they are actively working to reunite the pair.

"Delta understands that pets are an important member of the family and regrets this occurred while this pet was entrusted to our care," a statement from Delta read, according to CNN.
