Trial date set for accused I-75 shooter

WARREN COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A trial date has been set for the man who was accused of  shooting and killing his former girlfriend on Sept. 12.

Trial for 41-year-old Terry Froman will begin on Aug. 3, 2015.

Froman was indicted on Oct. 20 on five counts including two for capital murder for the kidnapping and killing of his former girlfriend on Interstate 75.

Authorities say he abducted his former girlfriend from her Mayfield, Kentucky home after killing her teenage son as the boy tried to protect his mother.

According to Graves County officials, Froman, of Illinois, fled the scene and traveled to his mother's residence in Paducah, located about 25 miles north of Mayfield. Froman's mother told police her son was covered in blood when he arrived to her home.

Froman then drove to Ohio where authorities pulled him over around 1 p.m. on I-75 North between State Routes 63 and 122. Police say they found Thomas, 34, dead inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.

The Warren County Prosecutor's Office is seeking the death penalty for Froman in the case.
