Family searches for answers one year after deadly home invasion

SPRINGFIELD TWP, OH (FOX19) -

Monday night, family members are gathering to remember a Cincinnati teenager who was shot and killed in a Springfield Township home invasion one year ago.

Several questions remain as to who's responsible for murdering 19-year-old Vince Turnage, a former track star at Mount Healthy High School.

This past August, Damon Kirkendall was found not guilty of murdering Turnage. Judge Melba Marsh said eye witness testimony was not substantial.

Police say two suspects claimed to be SWAT team members and demanded drugs and money before forcing their way into the home in the 1100 block of Tassie Lane just before 8 a.m. Nov. 17 last year.

Turnage was killed as he tried to run from the scene.
