Lauren Hill named one of Glamour's 50 Phenomenal Women of the Year

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - It's no secret in Cincinnati how inspirational Mount St. Joseph basketballer Lauren Hill has been to our community, but now a national magazine is honoring her courage and determination.

Glamour Magazine named Hill to represent Ohio in its annual Hometown Heroes: 50 Phenomenal Women of the Year Who are making a Difference special section.

Since being diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) - an inoperable and rare brain cancer - Hill has worked to raise awareness of the disease and find a cure. Through the hashtag #Layup4Lauren, the word is spreading across social media and donations are pouring in. Celebrities from LeBron James to Nick Goepper have taken the challenge.

"I want to be remembered as a hero," Hill recently said. "I want to give people hope that a cure is coming soon."

Hill was diagnosed last year and told she had two years to live. Not one to give up on her dream of playing college basketball, Hill played her first, and possibly last, college game on Nov. 2 against Hiram College at the Cintas Center at Xavier University. The game sold out and Hill scored four points, helping MSJ to victory.
