READING, OH (FOX19) - A 14-year-old pleaded guilty to smothering his two-month old sister in court Monday.
The teen pleaded delinquent by reason of murder for the death of his baby sister. His felonious assault charge was dropped as part of his plea.
Prosecutors originally looked to try the teen as an adult but when the prosecutor and defense met earlier this month they agreed to keep the case in juvenile court.
The court is ordering the boy to remain in the custody of youth services until he is 21. If he remains a good juvenile citizen, he will be released at that time. If not, he will be sentenced to 15 years to life in jail.
The 14-year-old smothered his sister to death at their Reading home in June.
Police say the teen told them he killed his sister because he heard voices telling him to do so.
