The Cincinnati Reds have officially announced the hiring of Kevin Towers as a special assistant/ player personnel and Jeff Schugel as a special assistant/pro scout to General Manager Walt Jocketty's staff.
Towers has 18 years of Major League general managing experience and was last with the Arizona Diamondbacks as the executive vice president and general manager. Towers also was the general manager of the San Diego Padres for 14 season. During his tenure with San Diego, the club won four division titles and advanced to the World Series in 1998.
Schugel will also be joining Jocketty's staff. This will be Shugel's 31st season in professional baseball. Last year he served as a special assistant to the Atlanta Braves General Manager Frank Wren.
