PHILADELPHIA, PA (FOX19) - For the second straight game, the defense didn't allow a single touchdown and stood strong late in the Bearcats 14-6 win at Temple Saturday.
Gunner Kiel managed the game completing 19 of 31 passes for 174 yards and a touchdown. UC took its first lead after Jeff Luc forced a fumble with Temple buried deep inside their own territory. Kiel then connected with Mekale McKay on a 3-yard touchdown pass to make it 7-3 early in the second quarter.
Mike Boone ran it 12 times for 61 yards and a touchdown that gave UC a 14-3 lead at the half. Temple added a field goal in the third quarter, but could not break the Bearcats defense, who made its biggest statement of the season, in the fourth quarter.
UC (8-3, 6-1) has won six straight games since opening the season 2-3. The Bearcats will play for a share of the American conference title Saturday at noon against Houston.
