Light freezing rain fell early Tuesday, coating some roads and highways, and making for a rough morning commute.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington issued a freezing rain advisory 3:30 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Temperatures held steady most of the morning at the freezing mark of 32 degrees.
Westbound Interstate 275 was a main trouble spot with several crashes reported near I-71 and the Wards Corner exit. Cars backed up all the way to Milford.
Both sides of I-275 were briefly shut down near I-71 by 4:30 a.m. after several accidents were reported with cars sliding off the road, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Ice also prompted crews to shut down the I-71 ramps to I-275.
State road crews treated highways overnight in anticipation of the slick conditions, but trucks had to scramble back out to I-275 at I-71 by 4:30 a.m.
