Reds announce team award winners at Redsfest

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The local chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America and the Cincinnati Reds announced their award winners for their individual performances for the 2014 season Friday night at Redsfest.

Pitcher Johnny Cueto was named the winner of the BBWAA's Ernie Lombardi Award as the team's Most Valuable Player. Cueto also won the Johnny Vander Meer Most Outstanding Pitcher Award.

Catcher Brayan Pena received the BBWAA's Joe Nuxhall Good Guy Award.

Minor league pitcher Ben Lively, of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, received the Sheldon "Chief" Bender Award as the organization's Minor League Player of the Year.

The Reds's other minor league award winners were Hitter of the Year outfielder Kyle Waldrop, of Pensacola, and Pitcher of the Year, Nick Travieso, of the Dayton Dragons.

Outfielder Jon Matthews, of Dayton, received the Minor League Community Service Award.
