Police: Man who robbed store said he did it for his kids' Christmas

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Hamilton Police have arrested a man that allegedly robbed the Minnick's Drive Thru on Brookwood Avenue, Monday evening.

According to police, Virgil Wedmore walked into the store and pointed a handgun at an employee, demanding the safe be opened. The employee informed him there was no way to access the safe. 


Wedmore then demanded the cash in the drawer. "This is for my kids' Christmas, just do what I tell you," he said to the employee, according to the incident report. 


Wedmore fled from the store on foot but was spotted by police. Officers were able to catch up with him a short distance from the store. He was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
