Congressman Steve Chabot delivered a floor speech Wednesday congratulating his alma mater, the La Salle Lancers, on winning their first ever state football title.

The Lancers beat Macedonia Nordonia 55-20 on Dec. 5 in Columbus to claim the Division II title.

La Salle broke two Division II state championship records in the victory. They recorded the most touchdowns with eight (previous record was seven), and most points scored with 55 (previous record was 50).

Rep. Chabot says that he graduated from La Salle in 1971 and played defensive line for the football team all four years of high school.

In the speech, Chabot says he got his political start at La Salle after being elected to the student council.
