The Cincinnati Reds have traded pitcher Alfredo Simon to the Detroit Tigers and Mat Latos is bound for the Miami Marlins.

Pitcher Jonathon Crawford, a number 1 draft pick, will join the Reds along with in-fielder Eugenio Suarez in exchange for Simon, the team announced on Thursday.

Reds pitcher Mat Latos will be traded to the Marlins in exchange for Anthony DeSclafani and Chad Wallach.

"We are excited to be acquiring two players we think will have a positive impact on our organization for years to come," Cincinnati Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty said of the trade with Detroit.

Latos' wife Dallas had some fun with the trade Thursday, tweeting that last time he got traded they found out on SportsCenter

Apparently some users took her tweets to seriously, prompting her to say: "Those of you who just saw my tweets today/missed the memo that I've been tweeting trade rumors all week- it was all in good fun." Followed by another tweet that read: "Good fun and a little stress. I wasn't asking for anyone to feel bad for us or some other wild interpretations of my tweets I've seen."

Crawford, 23, was selected by Detroit with the 20th pick overall of the 2013 first-year player draft and was a mid-season All-Star in each of his first 2 professional seasons. In 31 career starts he has produced a 2.73 ERA while allowing just 108 hits and a .218 opponents' batting average over 142.0 innings.

Suarez, 23, last season in his Major League debut made 85 appearances for the Tigers, including 81 games at shortstop and 2 at third base, and hit .242 with 4 HR and 23 RBI. He also hit .288 with 8 HR and 36 RBI in 54 minor league appearances for Class AA Erie and Class AAA Toledo.

Simon, 33, went 12-3 with a 2.70 ERA in his first 18 starts of the season to earn a spot on his first All-Star team. He finished the season with a 15-10 record and 3.44 overall ERA in 32 starts.
