UPDATE: Pedestrian dies from injuries in I-71 accident

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A man died on Thursday from injuries he sustained in an accident last week on Interstate 71.

Shawn Steinke, 47, of Lebanon, was outside his pickup truck on the entrance ramp from Fields Ertel Road when he was stuck by a Corvette, officials say.

Steinke was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Hospital where he passed away nearly one week later.

The driver of the Corvette was Air Cared to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries, officials say. His condition is unknown.

The OSHP says that driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, but impairment is unknown at this time.

Northbound I-71 was closed for approximately 45 minutes Friday, Dec. 12. The northbound ramp from Fields Ertel Road was closed for approximately four hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
