Two parents are under arrest after their two children were found alone outside several blocks from their residence Sunday.

According to officials, the Deer Park Police Department received a call from a local business manager around midnight saying that two children under the age of five were walking around a parking lot at 4079 E. Galbraith Road.

When an officer arrived to the scene, the caller showed the officer where the children were walking. By then, the children had crossed East Galbraith Road near Plainfield Road, one of the neighborhood's busiest intersections.

Authorities say the children were freezing, shivering and crying from wandering around in the 41 degree temperatures. The kids were only wearing their diapers and the smaller child had a blanket, police say.

The officer was able to find the home where the children came from in the 4000 block of E. Galbraith Road because the door was left open.

Kevin Burke, 32, and Angela Kraft, 37, were charged for two counts child endangering after their 2-year-old and 3-year-old children were found walking alone outside.

Police say the children were found freezing and crying in a parking lot several blocks from their residence.
