OVER THE RHINE, OH (FOX19) -
A power substation for Cincinnati's streetcar will be delivered and installed Monday, closing Findlay Street between Race and Elder streets between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The streetcar project reaches a milestone Monday when the final rails of the Over-the Rhine loop portion are welded together at 9 a.m. on Race Street between Elder and Green streets.
The loop makes up about half of the streetcar route, running from Washington Park to the streetcar maintenance and operations facility at Henry and Race Streets north of Findlay Market.
The Over-the-Rhine loop will serve as the test track for the first streetcar vehicles when they arrive in fall 2015 and ultimately connect to the Downtown track loop currently under construction to complete the 3.6 mile streetcar route.
The completion of track is followed by installation of the overhead power cables.
