Law enforcement officers will be on the lookout for impaired drivers on Ohio 4 this weekend.
The Butler County OVI Task Force says it will conduct an "OVI blitz" Friday and Saturday.
Police agencies not situated near the north-south thoroughfare also will have additional officers out looking for drunk drivers in their jurisdictions.
The operation comes as the Christmas holiday approaches.
"With the increased patrols, our officers want to make sure the roads are safe and there are no unnecessary tragedies on our roads," said Carl Phillips, coordinator of the task force.
For a safe holiday weekend, the task force recommends:
· Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin.
· Before drinking, designate a sober driver and give that person your keys.
· If you are impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member so you are sure to get home safely.
· If you happen to see an impaired driver, contact your local law enforcement agency.
