WEST CHESTER, OH (FOX19) -

Lakota School District announced it will expand its all-day kindergarten program for next school year.

During this school year, Lakota has been testing this tuition-based program. The school district will begin offering a tuition-free all-day option that will be selected by lottery starting next year.

"Offering both half-day and full-day programs is ideal," Lakota's superintendent Dr. Karen Mantia said. "It gives parents the most flexibility in deciding what's best for the child."

Dr. Mantia credits a change in the district's state funding status as the reason to be able to offer the all-day program.

The kindergarten program will be held at Lakota's four Early Childhood Schools. Each school will have four classrooms of the all-day program.

Applications for the all-day program must be submitted between Feb. 23 and Mar. 27.
