WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Gunmen burst into a multi-family home and rounded up six residents before one of the suspects accidentally shot himself Tuesday night, Cincinnati police said.

Three men forced people at gunpoint out of all four apartments in the 2700 block of Montana Avenue about 8 p.m., said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

The suspects, including two who wore masks, were on a mission.

"They kept asking where certain people were that were supposed to live there, and they were given the answer they didn't know," he said.

One of the gunmen went searching and was alone in an upstairs apartment when a gunshot went off.

Police think he accidentally shot himself in the abdomen. He ran out, bent over.

The other two suspects followed. All remain at large.

Police put hospitals on alert overnight in case a gunshot victim showed up matching the wounded suspect's description, but so far he has not, Brown said.

No one else was hurt.

The case remains under investigation as aggravated burglary and kidnapping offenses.
