OSU's Athletic Director To Retire

Ohio State says Geiger will announce retirement today

Ohio State says athletic director Andy Geiger will announce his retirement today. Geiger has presided over some of Ohio State's greatest successes as well as embarassments since his arrival in 1994. He has overseen an unprecedented building spree on campus, including the expansion of 83-year-old Ohio Stadium, and the construction of Value City Arena and Bill Davis Stadium. He also has fired basketball coach Jim O'Brien and football coach John Cooper, and has spent much of the last two years dealing with NCAA investigations into the football and men's basketball programs. Ohio State says Geiger and University President Karen Holbrook will make the announcement at a one p-m news conference.
