CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) - Joining several independent theaters across the country opting to air 'The Interview,' the Esquire Theatre in Clifton will show the movie on Christmas Day.

Kathy Parsanko, of Theatre Management Corp., told FOX19 NOW that 'The Interview' will be opening at the Esquire Theater on Thursday.

“We feel freedom of expression is an important part of the film industry and to our Constitution so we will be opening The Interview on Christmas Day," said Allyson Duncan, Head Manager for Esquire Theater. "We're working on lining up some Q&A's to discuss the film and its surrounding controversy.”

The film will also be available for online rental, Sony confirmed on Wednesday.

This comes after Sony Pictures Entertainment announced Tuesday that they would allow a limited theater release of the film.

"I'm all for it. My husband is. We're going to see the movie,” said Becky Truesdell of Lebanon.

Greg and Becky Truesdell are planning on spending their Christmas holiday in seats in front of the silver screen at the Esquire Theatre in Clifton for ‘The Interview.' They bought four tickets on Tuesday evening.

"My wife's got a brother and sister coming in to town, and I said, 'You know, we need to go see the movie. I heard it's at the Esquire,” said Greg Truesdell.

"I first wanted to see the movie when we first heard it was coming out, and then, all the sudden, Korea started threatening and next thing I know, it's not in the theaters anymore,” said Becky.

The threats are not deterring a handful of theaters nationwide from showing the film.

"We shouldn't give in to almost-terrorism,” said Becky.

Seth Rogan sent out a tweet after the announcement, saying 'The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed! Sony didn't give up! The Interview will be shown at theaters willing to play it on Xmas day!"

James Franco also sent out a tweet saying, "Victory!!!!! The PEOPLE and THE PRESIDENT have spoken!!! SONY to release 'The Interview' in theaters."

The movie was pulled from theaters last week after hackers threatened terrorist attacks on locations that chose to air it.

The Kenwood Theatre was scheduled to pre-screen the movie on Dec. 18 but that was event was canceled

'The Interview' will be shown at 1:20, 4:10, 7:00 and 9:50 p.m. at the Esquire Thursday.

"I think it's pretty cool to be a part of history,” Greg told FOX19 NOW

Theatre Management Corp. owns the Esquire Theatre, the Mariemont Theatre and Kenwood Theatre.
