A 14-year-old is recovering after accidentally being shot in the leg at a shooting range in Sharonville.

Fire crews responded to a report just after 11 a.m. of a 14-year-old shot in the leg at Target World, 2300 E. Kemper Rd., according to Hamilton County emergency communication reports.

Sharonville Police Department says that the owner of the gun was in the process of loading the firearm when a round went off.

According to the 911 call obtained by FOX19 NOW, the 911 caller told the dispatcher the gun accidentally discharged hitting the 14-year-old in the upper portion of his leg.

According to a statement from Target World, the cartridge did not properly load into the rifle's chamber.  The cartridge lodged sideways with enough force that the bullet was discharged.  Target World says that this type of discharge was the first in their experience.

The 14-year-old was transported to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Officials said the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

A man who called FOX19 NOW and identified himself as the teen's father said the teen is now home and will be OK.
