The holiday season wasn't as bright for the families of ten people killed in fatal crashes throughout Ohio this past week.

According to the Ohio State Patrol, between Dec. 24 at 12 a.m. and Dec. 28 at 11:59 p.m., 10 people were killed in 10 fatal crashes across the state.

Ohio State Patrol officials say five of the fatal crashes involved impaired drivers and five of the people who died were not wearing seat belts.

"No matter what, one death on Ohio's roadways is one too many," said Colonel Paul Pride. "From the troopers patrolling the streets for dangerous drivers to the motorists behind the wheel, we need all hands on deck to close out 2014 as safely as we can."

Locally, Marsha Mangino, 62, died after a car crash in Springfield Township that occurred Christmas Eve.

Fatal crashes during this time are up from last year, when seven people died in six crashes during the reporting period.
