CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - You might know where you are going to celebrate New Year's Eve Wednesday night, but do you have a plan to safely return home?

Police patrols will be stepped up around the Tri-State as revelers hit parties, restaurants and clubs to ring in 2015.

Alcohol-impaired drivers contribute to 1 out  of every 3 traffic deaths, according to AAA.

Before you head out, make a plan to get home safely. If you are going to drink, designate a sober driver ahead of time and leave your keys behind or program the phone number of a friend or local taxi or car service to your phone.

Car service companies are available like Uber, which says it expects this New Year's Eve to be its busiest night ever with more than 2 million rides in 24 hours.

Between  6 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday, Uber is donating $1 of every ride nationwide to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) when you enter the promo code MADDNYE.

Watch for a price surge due to high demand, especially during 12:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

For the most affordable rides, request one right when the ball drops at midnight. Or, wait until later for prices to return to normal.

Uber says you will be notified in advance and asked to confirm any increased rates - and you an always estimate your fare before requesting.
