Organizers of the Fairfield blood drive say more blood is needed.

The Community Blood Center sponsored a blood drive at the Fairfield Community Center Tuesday evening.

Officials say that blood supplies can drop to dangerous levels this time of year.

"Demand is more important for the winter time," Lindsay Bollheimer, a medical assistant at the blood drive said. "You'll have car accidents that happen. We're here to help those people who are going to need it. It's a lot more treacherous in the winter with the weather."

The Fairfield Fire Department will be hosting a blood drive Tuesday, March 3.

Individuals that are interested in giving blood are encouraged to visit the Blood Center's web page or call at 1-800-388-GIVE (4483).
