The Xavier Musketeers improved to 9-0 at home this season after defeating No. 19 Seton Hall 69-58 Wednesday night.
Xavier led most of the game, but the sold-out Cintas Center crowd grew weary after quickly giving up a five-point halftime lead early in the second half. The Muskies fell behind by four 49-45, with 10:38 to go in the game.
Xavier responded with a pair of Matt Stainbrook free throws and back-to-back three's from Remy Abell and Myles Davis. By the time the 20-6 run was over, the Musketeers had an 11 point win against another ranked opponent.
"We were the tougher team," Myles said after the game. "We played great defense towards the end of the game and we stuck together an fought. We knew what it was going to take to beat Seton Hall."
Xavier was led by senior point guard Dee Davis. Davis scored a team-high 14 points and added six assists. Freshman Trevon Bluiett chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.
Up for the Musketeers (11-4 2-1) is a trip to Indianapolis to take on the Butler Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
