MASON, OH (FOX19) -

Heritage Golf Club in Mason will be hosting a celebration of life service for a former Cincinnati Reds bat girl Saturday afternoon.

Shuler recently lost her battle with breast cancer.

She won the nomination of honorary bat girl for the Cincinnati Reds Mother's Day game in 2013.

Here is an excerpt from Josie's winning submission to HonoraryBatGirl.com:

Josie was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer on 8/8/08. Her cancer has reoccurred in her lungs and brain. Several times doctors told her she only had months to live. She is a very active volunteer with Komen Cincinnati, American Cancer Society and many others. She is a huge Reds fan and has an "exhibit" of all her Reds memorabilia in her basement. She and her husband are members of the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum and attend Redsfest every year.

The service is open to the public and will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday.
