(FOX19) - After The Ohio State University's victory over the University of Oregon in Monday's first ever College Football Playoff National Championship game, senators from Ohio and Oregon made good in a friendly bet on the steps of the Capitol.

Oregon Senators, Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley, joined Ohio Senators, Rob Portman and Sherrod Brown, in spelling out "O-H-I-O" Tuesday afternoon after a friendly wager was made last week.

The senators last week agreed that if OSU beat Oregon, Senators Wyden and Merkley would join Brown and Portman in spelling out "O-H-I-O."  If the Ducks had won, Portman and Brown were supposed to "throw the O" alongside the Oregon Duck mascot.

Ohio State beat Oregon 42-20 to claim their eighth championship.
