A 19-year-old accused of shooting a Middletown woman in a game of Russian roulette was convicted of reckless homicide on Tuesday in a Butler County court.

A judge sentenced Deangelo Jones to nine years behind bars for the shooting death of 20-year-old Amanda Blevins.

Jones told police he and Blevins were getting ready to play Russian roulette on Sept. 6 when he stepped out of the room. He said Blevins then began playing the game on her own. Hearing the empty chambers, Jones said he went back into the room to take the gun from Blevins when it fired in his hands.

‘Russian roulette' involves loading a bullet, spinning the cylinder and then pulling the trigger while pointing the gun at yourself.

Officials found Blevins with a gunshot wound to the head.

Jones fled the scene on foot before police arrived. He returned to the scene a few hours later and turned himself in.
