FAIRFIELD, OH (FOX19) -

A 70-year-old man is safe after escaping his burning home Monday morning in Fairfield.

The man was the only person inside the home, located on Resor Road, when the fire started around 4 a.m., according to Fairfield Police. He was able to escape through the garage.

Officials say the fire began in the living room where a space heater was running.

Investigators are working to confirm that the space heater caused the fire, which left an estimated $100,000 in damage.
