CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) -

The Bearcats used another big second half to defeat the Houston Cougars 67-54 Wednesday night.

For the second time in a week, UC turned a close game into comfortable margin in the second 20 minutes.

Houston led the Bearcats 28-24 after the first half of play. On the first two possessions of the second stanza, Kevin Johnson made a three-point jumper and Gary Clark scored on a breakaway dunk. Those two possessions were a precursor for the rest of the half. Although UC did not outscore Houston by 30 like they did against Temple, the 'Cats did go on to win by double-digits.

Despite the second half performance, interim Head Coach Larry Davis was not pleased with the effort.

"I'm grateful for the win, but I'm not going to sit here and tell you I'm happy about how we played," said Davis. "I'm not happy. We didn't play very well in the first half, but, we still have a lot of work to do. "

Troy Caupain led the Bearcats with 13 points and six assists. Octavius Ellis added 11 points and five rebounds.

Cincinnati (13-5, 4-2) will travel to take on the UCF Knights Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
