Union, Ky man arrested in connection to a series of car break-ins

UNION, KY (FOX19) -

 A Union, Ky man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a series of car break-ins.

Police accuse George Gattis, 31, of Union, of breaking into cars in parking lots of businesses, churches, and a school along the US-42 corridor in Union which included Arbor Springs subdivision, Saint Timothy's Church, Union Presbyterian Church, New Haven School and Krogers/Flip Daddy's Burgers over the past two weeks.

Gattis was charged with two counts receiving stolen property.

Officials say deputies stopped him in the area and subsequently obtained a search warrant for his vehicle where they located stolen items including a purse and gift cards.  One of the gift cards was stolen from Five Seasons Sports Club in Lakeside Park, Ky.

Gattis is being held at Boone County Detention Center. 

Police say additional charges are anticipated including drug charges and a persistent felony offender charge.
