A suspect in the brutal beating attack on Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters' son and his son's girlfriend pleaded guilty Friday and was sentenced to three years in prison.

Matthew Johnson Jr., 23, enter guilty pleas to two counts of assault and one count each of felonious assault, aggravated riot and ethnic intimidation.

Jonathan Deters and his girlfriend, Allison Crable, both 23, were walking on West Ninth Street about midnight May 25 after the Taste of Cincinnati outdoor food festival Downtown when they were approached by five to six people.

The suspects hit and knocked them to the ground and punched Crable in the face. Police said the victims were not robbed. They were taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Special prosecutor Daniel Breyer handled the case due to Joe Deters' relationship to the victims.
