Police: Man leaves three kids in vehicle while fleeing from police on foot

HAMILTON COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

A man was arrested and charged after he jumped out of his car and fled from the police leaving his three kids in the vehicle with two open containers of alcohol and marijuana.

Greenhills Police say an officer attempted to stop Joseph Simms, 37, of Middletown, Saturday night on Winton Road.  Simms continued to drive at the same rate of speed until he came to the end of a dead end street.

Simms then fled on foot leaving his three kids in the vehicle, according to documents.  He was eventually caught by officers.

Police say two open containers of alcohol and marijuana were found in the vehicle with the kids.

Simms was charged with three counts of child endangering, one count possession of drugs, one count of having an open container, one count of failing to comply with the order of a police officers and one count of obstructing official business. He will be in court Monday morning.
