SHARONVILLE, OH (FOX19) -

Another teacher is facing charges for having sex with a student at Scarlet Oaks Career Campus in Sharonville. This is the second teacher to be charged within the year.

After a three month investigation, math instructor Aaron Brown is charged with two counts of sexual battery after an alleged affair with one of his high school students.

"A student approached our dean of instruction, the principal of the campus and said she had just heard an allegation that a teacher had an affair during the summer with a student,” said Jon Widlich, Community Relations Director for Great Oaks Career Centers.

According to court documents, the offense happened on or about June 1st through Oct. 9 of last year in Clermont County. Though the student was 18-years-old, prosecutors say Brown violated the Revised Code of Ohio law regarding teacher-student relationships.

In August, former culinary arts teacher Dan Knecht faced 6 counts of sexual battery for allegedly having sex with three of his students on campus and at private residencies. He now faces up to 30 years in prison.

Weidlich says after Knecht's case became public administrators worked hard to encourage students to come forward if they had concerns. They believe the open atmosphere they created brought to light this second case they may have never discovered.

"The fact that after decades of quiet, something like this would happen twice in a year makes us really look at ourselves and our campus. It causes a lot of conversation about what needs to be done,” said Weidlich.

Brown is set to appear in court Feb. 4 in Clermont County.
