NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -

Investigators are looking into why a light fell into the Ohio River from the Daniel Carter Beard Bridge.

The bridge - commonly known as the Big Mac Bridge - stretches from Cincinnati to Newport, Kentucky. Officials say it's unclear what caused the light to fall into river. The bridge is open and there are no concerns over the structures integrity.

This isn't the first incident involving local bridges, you may remember large chunks of concrete fell from an interstate support beam on the Brent Spence Bridge back in September.

That incident resulting in a dented roof, smashed windshield and rearranged dashboard of cars underneath.

The Ohio Department of Transportation sent an engineer to evaluate, and then remove loose concrete from the site.

The ramps and bridges are a part of the transportation system which are routinely scheduled to have annual inspections.
