Gov. John Kasich appointed Hamilton County's juvenile court administrator a municipal court judge Tuesday.
Curt Kissinger will take over the judgeship Monday, replacing Judge Russell J. Mock, who was elected in November to the First District Court of Appeals.
Kissinger, 49, will have to run in November to retain the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends Jan. 2, 2018.
The former county assistant prosecutor became juvenile court administrator in December 2011.
Kissinger was born and raised in Cincinnati, graduating from Anderson High School and the University of Cincinnati before graduating from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1990.
He has worked with Rendigs, Fry, Kiely & Dennis, LLC and served as a UC adjunct professor in Blue Ash and served as the court administrator.
Kissinger also is a member of the Ohio and Cincinnati Bar Associations, Hamilton County Ethics Commission and Cincinnati Citizens Police Association.
