ROSELAWN (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell honored the Good Samaritan that tried to stop the fatal attack of a wheelchair-bound woman last month.

Timothy Carpenter tried to save Patricia Hummons' life as she was being attacked by Andrew Kimbrough Jan. 18. Kimbrough is charged with murder after police say he attacked Hummons with a knife and then stabbed Carpenter when he came to the helpless woman's defense.

Blackwell and District 4 Captain Maris Herold recognized Carpenter Wednesday in conjunction with Cincinnati's Police Department's Homicide Unit Victim's Advocate Unit.

Carpenter, a pastor, delivered Hummons' eulogy at the Peace Baptist Church. He encouraged the gathering to look after their neighbors, get to know them and help them when they're in trouble.
