SARDINIA, OH (FOX19) - AirCare was called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident in Brown County Friday afternoon.

The accident occurred on State Route 32 at Sardinia-Mowrystown Road in Washington Township at around 4:10 p.m.

Authorities say that the preliminary investigation revealed that a maroon, 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Daniel Mignerey, 21, was traveling northbound on Sardinia-Mowrystown Road.  Mignerey attempted to cross SR 32 when his vehicle struck in the right lane of SR 32 by a westbound, dark green 2013 Ford Fusion being driven by 69-year-old Merle Spurlock.

Mignerey was ejected from the vehicle and his body came to a final rest on the northwest side of the intersection, police say.  He was taken by AirCare to UC Medical Center for life threatening injuries.

According to officials, Spurlock's vehicle also came to a rest on the northwest side of the intersection after the accident occurred. Two AirCare helicopters were dispatched to the scene to transport Spurlock to UC Medical Center and her 6-year-old passenger, to Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  Both of them were transported for non-life threatening injuries.

The name of the 6-year-old has not been released yet.

Authorities say all three victims are from the Sardinia area.

The accident shut down State Route 32 at Sardinia-Mowrystown Road in Sardinia for an extended period of time.
