CARTHAGE, OH (FOX19) -
Police are investigating a triple stabbing that sent a mother, father and their 8-year-old daughter to the hospital over the weekend.
The incident happened Saturday in a Carthage apartment complex in the 6600 block of Vine Street at around 7:10 p.m., according Cincinnati Police Sgt. Stephen Hoerst.
Cesar Hernandez-Sanchez, 39, allegedly cut his 8-year-old daughter's neck with a butcher knife before stabbing his estranged wife, Laura Castro, 27, in the hand and above the eye, according to court documents.
The child escaped to a neighbor's house for help while Castro used a screw driver in self-defense to stab her husband, an affidavit states.
Officials say Castro had a protection order against Sanchez.
Sanchez jumped from the second floor apartment window when police arrived. Officials located him on the pavement with an abdomen and leg injury.
The 8-year-old has since been released from Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
Sanchez and Castro were transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. They are both listed in critical condition.
Officials say the incident remains under investigation.
