WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) - A man was found dead in a truck in Westwood Sunday, police said.

Officials say they responded to the 3600 block of Schwartze Ave at 11:59 a.m. for a person passed out in a truck.

"I left to go to the store. I came back - the whole street was blocked off,” said Tabitha Varin who lives nearby.

On walk with her dog Saturday night, Varin says she first noticed the white pickup truck.

"The truck was sitting there, and for some reason, my gut said, 'Why don't you go over there and look at that truck because it's never sitting there like that?' I said, 'no,'” Varin said.

This isn't the first time she says she's noticed the white Chevy in the neighborhood, but when she saw it Saturday night, something was unusual about it.

"I've seen it maybe two, maybe three times. But he was never parked right here. Like I said, he was always parked around the bend,” Varin said.

When police arrived on scene, they say they located Gerald T. Hummer II, 20, dead inside the truck.

According to the Hamilton County coroner, a preliminary examination revealed that Hummer died as a result of homicidal violence.

Varin says her neighborhood is usually a quiet one, especially on Sunday night as many questions surrounding Hummer's death still remain a mystery.

"My heart goes out for the family. It really does. I feel for them,” Varin said.
