Bush Regrets Words

Bush giving thought to the consequences of his words

President Bush has expressed misgivings for two of his most famous expressions: "Bring 'em on," in reference to Iraqis attacking US troops, and his vow to get Osama bin Laden "dead or alive."

The president spoke about the statements during a roundtable discussion with reporters from 14 newspapers. Bush says says the statements have had unintended consequences.

Regarding the bin Laden comment, he said it was just an unrehearsed expression. He says even First Lady Laura Bush asked him why he used those words.

Bush says he has to be mindful of the consequences of the words he uses, but wasn't sure whether to call his reflections a confession or a regret.
