University of Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari has been nominated as a finalist for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame according to his twitter account.
Calipari has been the head coach of UK since 2009. The 56-year-old coach has also coached at the University of Memphis, University of Massachusetts and the NBA's New Jersey Nets.
"I want to thank the people at UMass, Memphis and Kentucky for giving Ellen and I an opportunity to coach at three great institutions," Calipari posted on his twitter account.
Calipari has five Final Four appearances, three of which were with UK, one with Memphis and one with Massachusetts. The appearances with Massachusetts and Memphis have been vacated due to rule violations within the program.
Calipari won his only National Championship in 2012 with the Wildcats.
This season, UK is currently 24-0 and the top-ranked team in the country. The Wildcats put their undefeated record on the line on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. against South Carolina.
